ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE RACE

2nd Lefkas Fun Run Half Marathon - October 4, 2026 in Vasiliki, Lefkada

ORGANIZATION

The Lefkada Tourist Board announces the 2nd Lefkas Fun Run Half Marathon.

The Perfect Preparation for the Authentic Athens Marathon! The 2nd Lefkas Fun Run Half Marathon comes at the ideal time, to be a very good training before the big day. The flat and fast asphalt route in Vasiliki, Lefkada is ideal to test your race pace, do a long run with support, and build confidence before standing at the starting line in the Marathon. Don't miss the opportunity to combine preparation, racing experience and a wonderful weekend in Lefkada!

ROUTES

1. The 21,100-meter Half Marathon will start from the picturesque port of the village (start time 09:30) The route is flat with minimal incline in some places. At the beginning we will run on the coastal pedestrian path of the village and then for most of the route we will run through the plain of Vasiliki side by side with hundreds of olive trees on asphalt terrain. There will be ample refreshments every 3 kilometers. There will be electronic timing and there will be no finish limit. The participation cost is 15 euros.

2. The 10,000-meter race will start from the picturesque port of the village (start time 09:30) The route is flat with minimal incline in some places. At the beginning we will run on the coastal pedestrian path of the village and then on the plain of Vasiliki. There will be electronic timing and there will be no finish line. The participation cost is 10 euros.

3. The 5,000-meter race will start from the picturesque port of the village (start time 09:30) The route is flat. There will be electronic timing and there will be no finish line. The participation cost is 5 euros.

4. The 1,000-meter race for children up to 12 years old will start from the picturesque port of the village (start time 12:00), and can take part as chaperones and parents running next to their children. Parents with very young children with their strollers are also allowed. The participation fee is 5 euros and includes a commemorative medal, race supplies.

Those who want to participate in the race at the last minute will not be able to do so. Only for the children's race will there be the possibility to register at the last minute at the starting line of the races.

It is not possible for runners to participate without a timekeeping and participation number. Right to Participation: All men and women have the right to participate in the race, regardless of age. In the event that the runner is under 18 years of age, he/she must be accompanied by a responsible declaration from the parent/guardian. It is considered necessary to emphasize that all runners of any age must have recently been examined by a specialized Doctor because they compete under their own exclusive responsibility and the responsibility of the parents/guardians of minors.

PARTICIPATION COST

The participation cost is 15 euros for the 21,100 meter race, 10 euros for the 10,000 meter race and 5 euros for the 5,000 meter race. The participation cost is 5 euros for the children's 1000 meter race.

TRANSPORT

From Athens and Thessaloniki on the existing KTEL routes to Lefkada, registered runners will have a 50% discount.

PICK UP YOUR PARTICIPATION NUMBER
The collection of participation numbers will take place on Saturday 3/10 from 08:30 to 21:00 and Sunday 4/10 from 08:00 to 09:00 at the Vasiliki Super Market, located at the port of Vasiliki a few meters after the starting point of the races.

EATING STATIONS - WASTE

There are several feeding stations along the race routes with bottled water, isotonic, soft drinks, fruit, chips, nuts. There will be additional sweets, energy bars and energy gels along the half marathon route. All runners participating in the races as well as the event volunteers must keep the natural environment clean. The organizing authority will provide waste collection points along the entire route, especially at the Support and Feeding Stations.

AWARDS

Cups will be awarded in all races to the first three men and the first three women in the following categories: Men A1 (18-39), A2 (40-49), A3 (50+) Women C1 (18-39), C2 (40-49), C3 (50+) A category will be formed if at least 6 athletes participate. In the children's 1000 meter race there will be two categories: 1) up to 8 years old. 2) 9 years old up to 12 years old.

MODIFICATION OF ROUTES AND REGULATIONS

The Organizing Authority has the right to modify the race routes and regulations if deemed necessary and always for the safety and best service of the runners.

PRESS - PHOTOGRAPHS
The Organizing Authority is responsible for providing information to any Media (regarding the event) through interviews, press releases and provision of photographic material. The names and photographs of the runners will be freely used by the Organizing Authority to the Media and wherever deemed appropriate by them.

HEALTH COVERAGE

There will be lifeguards at the races. The Vasiliki health center is informed about the conduct of the races and there will be an ambulance and a doctor in case of emergency. All competitors participate exclusively at their own risk and are aware of the difficulties of the road races. The Lefkada Tourist Company A.M.K.E. is not responsible for death, injury or any damage to your health, each athlete and athlete by declaring participation declares that he is aware of the dangers in the natural environment and confirms that his health is good and allows him to compete, and has recently been examined by a doctor for this purpose. Each athlete, by declaring their participation, waives any financial claim on their part, in the form of compensation, in the event of an accident. The organizers are not responsible for anything that happens during the competition due to the lack of preventive medical check-ups by the competitors. It is recommended that participants undergo a medical examination before the competition. The organizers will not request medical certificates for any athlete as participants compete under their own exclusive responsibility. Minors compete under the responsibility of their guardians.

REGULATIONS

Any detour or shortcut of the route is prohibited. Furthermore, runners are required to understand and serve each other, both before and after the race, but especially during the race.
